How often is this information updated?

This information is in "Real Time" mode. When changes are made to an inmate's record the changes are displayed on the web immediately. This system contains only 3 years worth of data.

What is a PID? What is a JID?

PID is Positive Identification Number. A unique number assigned to a person based on his/her fingerprint analysis. This number remains constant for a person regardless of the number of stays in jail. JID is a Jail Identification Number. This number is assigned at the time a person is booked into the jail system. This number will change for each stay in the jail.

What is charge information?

Charge Information consists of the following:
CASE - Trial Court Case #, docket & number
DESCRIPTION - Text description of the charge
PROCESS TYPE - (see below...)
CHARGE TYPE - (see below...)
BOND - The Amount of bond
BOND TYPE - Type of bond required (see below...)

Common PROCESS Types are (3 kinds):
Judicial Orders:
  BT - An Order for Arrest; the inmate is being held because his bond has been terminated.
  FTA - An Order for Arrest; the inmate failed to appear in court.
  FTC - An Order for Arrest; the inmate has failed to comply with a court order.
  GJI - An Order for Arrest; the Grand Jury returned an indictment.
  PV - An Order for Arrest; the inmate has violated his/her probation.
  REL - A magistrates order; describes the inmates charges and conditions of release.
  SENT - A judicial order; describes the terms of the inmate's sentence.

Warrants:
  ARREST - The inmate is being held for an arrest warrant.
  GOV - The inmate is being held pursuant to an Order of Extradition.

Holds:
  1099 - The inmate is being held for additional processes to be served.
  AWOL - The inmate is AWOL from a military organization.
  CMPDEM - The inmate is pending release to the Char-Meck Police's Electronic Monitoring Program.
  CUST - The inmate must be released to the custody of another person.
  DDRCRT - The inmate is being held by order of the District Drug Court.
  DIX - The inmate is being held pending an evaluation at Dorthea Dix.
  DNA - The inmate is being held until a DNA sample is retrieved.
  DRCH - The inmate is being held by order of the NCDOC's DART program.
  DRPGM - The inmate is being held until court order Substance Abuse Treatment is completed.
  DSYS - The inmate is being held by order of the Department of Social Services/Youth and Family Services.
  DV - The inmate is being pursuant to a Domestic Violence order.
  FED - The inmate is being held on a Detainer issued by a Federal Law Enforcement Agency.
  FEDPR - The inmate is a federal prisoner.
  IC - The inmate is being held pursuant to an Interstate Compact Agreement with another jurisdiction.
  ICE - The inmate is being held on a Detainer issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
  ICEP - The inmate is a prisoner of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
  LC - The inmate is being held pursuant to a local judicial order.
  LO - The inmate is being held overnight during transport to another facility/jurisdiction.
  MAGH - The inmate is being held by order of a magistrate.
  MHE - The inmate is being held pending a mental health evaluation.
  OOC - The inmate is being held at the request of another county.
  PBDR - The inmate is being held until sober.
  PID - The inmate is being held until he/she complies with fingerprinting procedures.
  PIN - The inmate is being held pursuant to Fugitive message from another jurisdiction.
  SAFE - The inmate is being held in Mecklenburg County for safety reasons.
  SDRCRT - The inmate is being held pursuant to court order from Superior Drug Court.
  SOR - The inmate is being held until Sexual Offender Registration requirements are met.
  STATE - The inmate is being held at the request of another state; the inmate is wanted in another state.
  STEP - The inmate is being held by Court Order from the STEP program.
  WRIT - The inmate is being held on a WRIT. He/she must be returned to the originating jurisdiction.


Common CHARGE Types are:
M - Misdemeanor
F - Felony
T - Traffic
I - Infraction


Common BOND Types are:
SEC - Secured
UNS - Unsecured
CASH - Cash only
CUST - Custody of another
VDGJ - Voluntary Dismissal Grand Jury
NONE - No bond allowed


Common DISP (Disposition) Types are:
A - Active
B - Bonded
E - Expired
I - Inactive

What is the best way to search?

You can search by any of the criteria displayed. Name, PID, JID, Active Inmates Only or Custody/Prisoner Type.   Prisoner type refers to the custodial agency of the inmate.  At least 1 letter must be keyed for First Name if searching by Name. You can search by more than 1 option (Ex: Name /Active Switch) at one time.

Valid prisoner types are: STATE (State of North Carolina), FEDERAL (US Marshals), BOP (Bureau of Prisons), ICE (Immigration and Customs), 287G (Immigration and Customs 287G Detainee), and SMCP (Statewide Midemeanant Confinement Program).

Results of the search contain the following:

NAME - Name of the Inmate
PID - Prisoner ID Number (see below...)
JID - Jail ID Number(Unique for each arrest)
RS - The Race & Sex of the Inmate (Ex: WM = White Male)
HT - Height
WT - Weight

What is summary information?

The Summary information displays information regarding the particular incarceration. Information like Name, Alias Name, Arrest Number, PID, Race/Sex, Date of Birth, Address, Date Committed, etc. is displayed.

How do I save a mugshot?

Simply (right click / save picture as) on the image. The system will default to a bitmap (.BMP) image. If you prefer a JPEG (.JPG) or GIF (.GIF) image, simply key in a .JPG or .GIF extension to the file name and press the "Save" button. NOTE: Be sure to record what directory your file is saved to. (Image size will be saved as 400 X 480 pixels)

How do I remove my information from the online inquiry application?

Arrest and inmate inquiry information will remain online for three years from the date of arrest or release from jail. To remove the information prior to three years, the Sheriff’s Office must receive an Order of Expunction signed by a judge. For more information about having charges expunged, please contact your attorney.
